Wondering if anyone has seen a green heron this year (see pictures on right).
Compared to prior years, there seem to be very few water birds. Does anyone else have impressions on this?

- Song Lake is one of a group of unique kettle lakes, just east of the Finger Lakes, in Northern Cortland and Southern Onondaga Counties, in New York State. The kettle lakes were formed during the same glacial period as the Finger Lakes, and according to the USGS, by the same glacial processes that also formed the Valley Heads Moraine, which is the drainage divide between the St. Lawence River Basin to the north and Susquenanna River Basin, to the south. Song has no outlet or inlet, but is fed by precipitation, surface water runoff and groundwater.
Carl & I took a turn around the lake this evening-1st time this year. The lake looked good-clean. There was one large green bloom in the north end but otherwise clear. I was thinking myself that I have seen very few geese and ducks. Also we haven't had any more dead fish show up on the shoreline.
